SALES INSIGHTS

Going 0 to 10: My 5-Minute Review and Debrief Process for Your First Sales Meetings

I’m back on the tools again and loving it. One of my favourite aspects of launching new products and offers is how I review and debrief every sales meeting to improve the buying experience.

A mistake I see often?

Founders and sellers not taking 5 minutes to debrief, reflect, and unpack their sales meetings, leaving gold in the meeting. These core learnings and insights should inform the language used, the content embedded into the sales meeting flow, and how the buying experience is improved.

How to not miss! ⤵️

To capture all the goodness, I do three things:

1. Use Fathom AI to record all meetings and capture everything said. (Get 3 months premium on us)

2. Debrief immediately in the team Slack using voice notes and share what worked well, what I learnt, what the prospect was excited about, where I fumbled, and new objections I heard

3. Update content and processes: Through documenting everything, I can make notes on what new content or collateral is required, what language used I want to embed, what I need to do better next time, and who’s responsibility that is to action

Why is this important?

  • It keeps your product feedback loops TIGHT

  • It’s geared towards iterative approaches and moving fast

  • It gets the team pumped and involves them in the energy you love in every meeting

The outcomes:

  • MOVE FASTER: From 0-10, fast. Reducing friction and finding your flow in that first meeting means with each rep, you get smoother, and the offer seems more natural

  • ICPs DEVELOP: Your ideal client profiles will begin to form as you qualify in the beginning of a meeting. You can align a repeatable process to a persona and their pain points and continue to shape your ICPs

  • HIGHER QUALITY EXPERIENCE: Every iteration improves the experience for the next person, whether through having resources, updated Q&As, or bringing forward common concerns (that you’ve learnt from other prospects)

🔥 Pro tip: Don't delete anything!

If you make changes and you start feeling it’s not going smoothly, you want to be able to return to previous versions of your process to figure out where you went wrong.

🚨 If you found this valuable, you’ll love our sales accelerator. We’ll cover short, mid, and long-term ICPs and build your buyer’s journey at each conversion point in the sales process 🚨

TOOLING

25 Messages → 11 Booked Meetings While I Was on Leave

Last month, I wrote about getting out of my own way with LinkedIn automation and using LinkedIn’s Away Message for the first time.

The result?

📩 25 messages and 11 booked meetings, all while I was offline.

Here’s how ⤵️

I set up LinkedIn’s Away Message (Messaging → 3 dots in top right corner → Set away message) to automatically respond with:

1. My return date

2. A direct calendar link (use Bitly or a link shortener to fit the character limit and actually get your cal link in the message)

3. A cheeky/friendly message (use this ChatGPT prompt: ‘Shorten this LinkedIn away message to 300 characters without losing my tone or personality’)

Why It Worked:

⏳ Saved time: Qualifying and replying to each person 1:1 meant missing great opportunities and wasting time for both of us

🔥 Your LinkedIn network is already warm: Nurtured leads from trusted connections

🎯 Clear instructions: A calendar link makes it easy for people to take action

🧑‍💻 Humanised automation: If you’re using automation, make it sound like you

📥 LI Inbox over Email: More inquiries via LinkedIn chat than email

Shoutout to Joumana Elomar for putting me on to this feature!
